Overview

Darjeeling lies in the northern part of West Bengal at around 2,000 meters, so it has a pleasant climate most of the year and feels very different from the plains. The town still carries a colonial-era charm with old churches, British-style buildings, and a mix of Bengali, Nepali, Tibetan, and Lepcha cultures in daily life.

Day 1 :

New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to Darjeeling (By Toy Train, Shared Jeep or Cab), the city of Beauty, adventures and serenity.

Arrive at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, you are welcomed by the team and then you will be transferred to your hotel by Toy Train ( Typically departs NJP around 10:10 and reaches Darjeeling around 17:40.), Shared Jeep or Cab (About 73–75 km and usually takes around 2:45 hours in normal conditions.). Relax in a cosy café, followed by a beautiful candle‑light dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 :

Drive to Tiger Hill for a magical sunrise

Early morning visit to Tiger Hill for a magical sunrise, followed by a scenic stop at Batasia Loop and the serene Ghoom Monastery. After breakfast, explore the Himalayan Zoo and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (K2), enjoy a photo stop at Tenzing Rock, and soak in the views from a beautiful tea‑garden viewpoint. Evening at leisure to stroll around the Mall, relax at cafés, and enjoy shopping for local handicrafts and Darjeeling tea.

Day 3 :

A romantic Darjeeling Ropeway ride

Enjoy a romantic Darjeeling Ropeway ride together, gliding above lush tea gardens, valleys and distant snow peaks, creating picture‑perfect memories. Visit the serene Japanese Peace Pagoda, soak in the calm atmosphere and panoramic mountain views, then wander hand‑in‑hand through fragrant pine woods. End the day with a beautiful sunset and an unhurried, cosy dinner, celebrating a peaceful evening in the hills.

Day 4 :

Gliding together on a boat

Enjoy a slow, romantic day by Mirik Lake, gliding together on a boat, walking along the pine‑lined pathways, and capturing beautiful photos by the water. Visit the Indo‑Nepal border market at Pashupati, wandering through little lanes, picking up perfumes, chocolates and souvenirs to remember the trip. As evening falls, retreat to a calm homestay in Mirik or the serene hill hamlets of Lamahatta/Tinchuley, wrapped in mountain mist, soft silence and warm hospitality.

Day 5 :

Taking in mountain views

Enjoy an unhurried breakfast, then wander through a nearby village or along soft, green tea‑garden trails, taking in mountain views and quiet local life together. Drive back to Darjeeling by evening, and (An idea for customers) surprise your partner with a romantic bed decoration and a celebration cake arranged in advance at the hotel.

Day 6 :

Couple photoshoot

Enjoy a relaxed couple photoshoot around Darjeeling’s viewpoints, tea gardens and quaint lanes, then slip into charming cafés for coffee, conversations and cosy corners together. If available, take the iconic Darjeeling toy train joyride for a dreamy ride past hills, valleys and the famous Batasia Loop, or spend the day amidst waterfalls, bridges and lush greenery at Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park.

Day 7 :

Shopping before Leaving

Pick up your final souvenirs from Darjeeling’s tea shops and handicraft stores—fragrant loose‑leaf tea, shawls and small gifts to remember the hills by. After check‑out, drive down to NJP or Bagdogra, allowing 2.5–3 hours of scenic hill road time so you can reach your train or flight comfortably and without rush.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
