Overview
Nestled in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, Parasnath Hill (Sammed Shikharji), the state’s highest peak at 1,365 meters, is a sacred Jain pilgrimage where 20 Tirthankaras attained moksha, attracting devotees for a scenic 27-km trek through forests to summit temples, while also revered by Santhals as Marang Buru. Nearby, Khandoli Park provides a refreshing escape around the beautiful Khandoli Dam reservoir, offering boating, adventure rides, children’s play areas, elephant safaris, and a watchtower with panoramic views – a favourite family picnic spot that draws birdwatchers in winter.
